About Me
Who is Kimberly Hennessy?
My name is Kimberly Hennessy and I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work (MSW). After completion of my MSW, I completed additional training following the guidelines of the German Association for Systemic Therapy, Counseling and Family Therapy. I am able to provide counseling services for individuals, couples as well as families, based on systems theory that focuses on how an individual’s personal relationships, behavior patterns, and life choices are interconnected with the issues they face in their life.
I have more than 15 yrs of counseling experience working with adults, children, couples and families while living in the US and in Germany. Thus, I am familiar with crossing transatlantic borders and the challenges that this may bring along, having to adapt to new cultural norms
My Therapeutic Approach
My work is non-judgmental, relational, and resource-oriented, grounded in systems theory. I see
individuals not in isolation, but within the context of their relationships, histories, and
environments.
Core methods include circular and reflective questioning, reframing and systemic
conceptualization, working with genograms and ecomaps to understand relational patterns, and
integrating cognitive-behavioral and trauma-informed approaches where helpful.
Therapy with me is collaborative, thoughtful, and attuned — combining clarity and structure with
warmth, creativity, and depth
